iGuide?Pocket Knives Price Guide : Current Market Values of Pocket Knives

At various times during my career in the Army and the Marine Corps I carried most of the knives mentioned above but there was one knife that I carried throughout the entire time that was the unsung hero and full-tilt workhorse of the whole crowd. The term Demo Knife is an affectionate but completely inappropriate and dangerously inaccurate nickname bestowed on a knife manufactured for the US Military by Camillus Knives and made entirely of stainless steel. Decades ago, the rumor got started that because the knife in question was stainless steel, it was non-magnetic and therefore could be used to de-activate mines without setting them off. Regardless of the persistence of this rumor, the steel used to make the knives is indeed magnetic. There is at least one non-magnetic stainless steel that I am aware of, and this knife is not constructed with that particular stainless steel. Stick to doughnuts though, you can buy your own for the price of a pizza! Over the years several different companies have manufactured the Demo Knife for the military. The one pictured below is a U.

Thanks and have a blessed day. Proudly employing military veterans. Boker Tree Brand Knives View all Boker Tree Brand Knives Forged in a tradition of excellence that began nearly two centuries ago in the “Blade City” of Solingen, Germany, Boker knives are among the most prestigious lines of blades and cutlery in the world. Through some of history’s most tumultuous events, the Boker name has survived, with its superior cutting products all distinguished by the Boker tree — a symbol of the towering, ancient chestnut that once grew outside the original Boker factory hundreds of years ago.

The reputation of the power and quality infused into the knives etched with the Boker tree expanded throughout Europe in the 19th century before crossing an ocean, and then eventually a continent, to find a devoted legion of customers throughout the USA and beyond. As the Boker legacy grew, new factories with new designs and products began springing up on both sides of the Atlantic to meet the increased demands of an exploding market.

Soon, Boker was a top American manufacturer of everything from German kitchen knives to folding pocket knives , to hunting knives and fixed blade knives , to knife sharpeners and sheaths, to multitools , scissors, and much more.

Old Timer Knives

He was first put in charge of cow chains but gradually worked his way up to the firearms and cutlery department. The only solution Kastor saw was to manufacture knives domestically. Eventually, his search led him to Charles Sherwood and his small knife manufacturing business in Camillus. They bought new machinery, such as steam driven drop forge hammers and fly presses and they adopted new techniques, like using alumina grinding wheels.

Ancient Celtic Weapons. The warrior Celts (cBC—AD50) were famed for their ferociousness and tenacity in battle, and even received grudging respect from their Roman early Celts fought mainly on foot (later in chariots and on horseback), and relied heavily on the awesome psychological and physical impact of a massed charge of their warriors.

Why is the Star of David on the sword of the Marines? Anyone with a historical note on this. This is what I found: The above reference comes from JewishMarines. If the sword is made by the Wilkinson Sword Company the Star of David is on the hilt because the company was founded by a Jew, and the swords made by the direct descendants all have the Star of David on the hilt. Are either of the above known to be true or are they urban legends??

I have no source documentation to compare this with. Not even the “Old Guard” has that privilege.

Multi-tool Multi-tool knives formerly consisted of variations on the American camper style or the Swiss Army knives manufactured by Victorinox and Wenger , however, the concept of a multitool knife has undergone a revolution thanks in part to an avalanche of new styles, sizes, and tool presentation concepts. These new varieties often incorporate a pair of pliers and other tools in conjunction with one or more knife blade styles, either locking or nonlocking.

Multitool knives often have more than one blade, including an assortment of knife blade edges serrated, plain, saws as well as a myriad of other tools such as bottle openers , corkscrews , and scissors. A large tool selection is the signature of the Swiss Army Knife. These knives are produced by Victorinox and Wenger and issued to military services and sold to the public.

Boker Knives, the “tree brand,” has proven itself a trusted maker of quality hunting, culinary, and pocket knives for over a hundred years. With roots tracing back to 17th century Germany, Boker has established a global presence with Boker Arbolito in Argentina and Boker USA in Colorado.

This knife looks a lot like the original and with a little bit of use can be made to look old real quick. The bit telltale difference is the sharpened false edge. The WW II era knife has a long sweeping false edge while the current repro has a very short and sharply curved false edge. We see this one constantly on sale as a “Vietnam Era” knife. We have been told these knives were carried by various elite and special units so many time we almost gave up the argument on the subject.

Well Camillus didn’t start making these knives with this marking until so if it was in Vietnam it must have been with some other folks not the US forces.

Seemed like an obvious opportunity to actually demonstrate this myself. I was not familiar with Primble knives, but was able to find out a bit about the company. The one most prefer, myself included, is the John Primble India Steel Works, which is probably the oldest, dating around to They were made with a high quality steel imported from India.

I have owned several of these through the years and I can say they were all quality top of the line knives. These early knives showed the best in workmanship, fit, tolerances, finish and steel. The quality was top notch. These knives were often sourced from American makers such as Camillus, Shrade, and Case. Spear of Destiny John Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. The one with perhaps the best claim, or at least the oldest provenance is in the Hofburg Museum in Vienna, Austria. This spear can be traced back through history to Constantine the Great, the Roman Emperor who first adopted Christianity in the early 4th century.

According to Ravencroft the lance was possessed by a series of successful military leaders including Theodosius, Alaric who was responsible for the sacking of Rome , Charles Martel who defeated the Moslems in AD , Charlemagne and Frederick Barbarossa. A legend grew around the lance that whoever possessed it would be able to conquer the world. Napolean attempted to obtain the lance after the battle of Austerlitz, but it had been smuggled out of the city prior to the start of the fight and he never got a hold of it.
